For starters, it is correct to say that there is nothing wrong about content marketing. Internet marketing in any scope that informs the growth of your business is laudable in every aspect. In essence, content marketing offers a great platform through which you can engage and effectively connect with your existing as well as prospective customers through generation of good content that is not only qualitative but also rich in information. That said, there is always conflicting advice on what works as relates to content marketing and doesn’t. Quality and quantity don’t go hand in hand

There has always been a bone of contention on which among quantity and quality is the best approach when it comes to churning out content for your website or blog. The fallacious belief that it’s impossible to have both quantity and quality should not be encouraged at all. You should focus on creating both quality and a good amount of quantity content with scalability to meet your industry quantity demands. Content writing is for everyone

While it’s undeniable that everyone have something of importance and knowledgeable that they can share, the difference lies in the execution. The difference is in how research is done, how ideas are expressed, important information disseminated and how the content written appeals to the target reader. The idea that anyone can write or curate content is a myth as not everyone can turn a complex subject into a simple and interesting read or have a creative flair. You can get a content written at a throw away price from mainstream freelance sites. While this is still possible, therein lies a catch. What you pay for is what you ultimately get. If you have a knack for going for cheap writers or paying peanuts, the end product will also be in tandem to what you pay for. Long form content is ineffective and dead

The assumption that long form content is dead and buried is a fallacy. In fact, it is very much alive despite the recent popularity of short form or micro content. If written in the right style and context long form content is just as effective and useful. Not forgetting, adding images and info graphics do help in attracting readers too. Long form content such as eBooks, white papers and blog articles deliver detailed information and any notion that it is dead is misplaced.

Social media is the only measure of success

With all marketing efforts shifting to social media platforms like social media marketing, there is a strong belief that it’s the only measure of success. While its true social media plays a very important role in measuring the success of your content marketing efforts, it’s not the only measure. Content marketing success efforts can also be measured through improved search engine rankings as well as the volume of visitors to your website.

With all the above myths debunked, it’s about time you took a different approach towards content marketing and change your perception.
