4 ways to fail Facebook marketing

Ways to fail Facebook marketing

Doing social media marketing via Facebook is not a new concept. In fact, the social network that boasts of over 1 billion users has become a core internet marketing strategy for businesses over the past 10 years. Of course, the reasons why businesses resort to Facebook are not hard to find. With such an immense number of users, it’s a mine field of sorts, an attractive market for brand exposure and visibility.

In as much as Facebook marketing and other platforms in social media that increase the success of many businesses, there are a number of pitfalls that businesses face. What are some of the mistakes business make and ways you can experience failure in Facebook marketing?

Adopting a robotic posting strategy

Avoid autopilot posts and focus on a personal approach in so far as posting of content is concerned. Users on Facebook prefer a personal touch in Facebook updates. Resorting to autopilot could seriously harm your marketing objectives and lead you to losing your market share. Automation leads to lack of engagement and interaction and this by all means is a recipe for failure.

Not diversifying your Facebook posts

Success in Facebook marketing requires diversity. You do not need to post the same type of posts repetitively as this would bore your followers and could lead them to unfollow your page. Diversify and have a mix of posts with audios, memes, videos, images, interesting tips and any other information that might pique the curiosity of your followers. You need to capture their attention and keep them glued to your page.

Inactive Facebook page

Creating a Facebook page and abandoning it all together is not going to positively impact your internet marketing objectives. You need to be active on your page by updating posts and interacting with your audience. Dormant pages tend to be ignored and this will hurt your marketing initiatives. Therefore, you need to be proactive, share posts constantly, engage in promotions and make people interested in what your page has to offer. If you cannot pique your audience’s interest, there is no way you can be successful with Facebook marketing.

Spamming your page with self-serving links

While the idea is to promote your business brand, spamming your page with self-serving links can be suicidal. Your audience will see you as being too much of yourself and this could irreparably hurt your business brand. On the contrary, you may post content that capture your audience’s attention such as quotes, videos and if you must post a self-serving link, do so sparingly. The idea is to provide value to your audience and increase engagement.

Ensuring how social media marketing works and how social media such as Facebook helps to improve business’ presence online can save you from unnecessary errors that might cost you and your business in the long run.
